The second step to become a fire extinguisher technician is to interview with our Team Manager. This step is not your ordinary one-on-one interview; it is designed to explain all of the details about what we do as technicians, and provide everyone with an opportunity to decide if this industry is right for you.
After completing your interview process, the next step will be to attend Florida State Fire College. This is a week long course Monday – Friday in Ocala, Florida. The course will teach you the basics of Florida Fire Code as it pertains to hand portable fire extinguishers.
After completing fire college, you will be tested by a state approved testing facility on the material learned in Fire College. This exam is a 2 hour – 100 question exam, which requires a 70% to pass.
In order to work on fire extinguishers in the State of Florida, you must be permitted. After passing your exam, we will file paperwork with the State of Florida Fire Marshalls Office and request your permit. After receiving your permit, you will be eligible to work in the State of Florida. After receiving your permit, we will have a final training session where we will explain to you the ins and outs of being a successful fire extinguisher technician.
